Taylor Hayes Top Porn Star

Life is good these days for Taylor Hayes. Very good in fact.

The beautiful brunette Vivid (and former Seymore Butts) girl is still basking in the glow of winning her first major AVN Award in January - Best Actress for her title role in Paul Thomas' Jekyll and Hyde (in a rare tie, she co-won the award with her good friend and fellow Vivid girl Raylene for the latter's performance in Thomas' Artemesia). She's excited about her big release of 2001, Vivid's Fade to Black (Editor's Choice, August AVN). And though it's not widely known outside the adult industry, she's the happy, loving mother of a five-year-old son.

While Hayes has taken some time off from the industry over the past few years to give her full attention to the boy during his formative years, now that he's no longer an infant, she says she's free to start concentrating more on taking her career - including her new Website, www.taylorhayes.com, and producing her own pro-am line - to the next level.

The only negative in her life, she says, is the fallout from the end of her friendship with fellow former Butts paramour Alisha Klass.

Although Hayes doesn't grant many interviews, she recently agreed to sit down with AVN at her lovely ranch-style house in the Northridge section of Porn Valley to discuss the state of Taylor, circa the summer of 2001. With her at home that day was her son, Brady, and the boy's father, Mr. Butts ) real name: Adam Glasser), with whom Hayes remains on good terms ("We're closer now than we probably ever were, even when we were together, thank God").

AVN: So how is life treating you?

Hayes: It's treating me really good. It's been really busy these last couple weeks. We just finished shooting Where the Boys Aren't 14 & 15. It was really incredible. I've known Jenna [Jameson] for years. And we've always wanted to work together. So this was the first opportunity we've had on screen. And it was great.

AVN: Your contract with Vivid is up for renewal in November, right?

Hayes: Right. We have such an ongoing, great deal and relationship - I've been with Vivid for five years now - I think we'll probably definitely continue the film part of it because I don't want to do film anywhere else. And they're wonderful. And it's kind of like a family situation almost. I'm really happy there. It was great winning Best Actress last year with Jekyll and Hyde. For the first time I won an award. And this year, we have the new film, which is Fade to Black, which is really good [AVN's review of Fade to Black pre-noms Hayes for Best Actress].

AVN: Now you've had some personal considerations in her life that you've had to give attention to in the last few years, yes? And they've taken you away from your career at times, right?

Hayes: I took a little bit of time off and there was a lot of things said during that time like "Was she in retirement? Is she making her comeback?" And I never really gave the reasoning behind it. I was always very vague about the situation. And I think part of the reason for this interview is that people need to realize that I have a son. And I've never really brought him up before. And I've always tried to keep him away from the whole business cause it's really hard to intermingle the two. Seymore and I had a baby together [while she was performing in his gonzo tapes]. I've taken time off - on and off - the last five years [to devote to her son]. This last year is really the first time that I've started working actively and be away more and take on more responsibilities, which is great. But there's been a lot of gossip about things that have gone on and who I am and how I raise my son.
